THE OLFACTION To reflect the creative ambiance of luxury of the 24 RUE DE L’UNIVERSITÉ ateliers and the immaculate purity of their w hite wood paneling, the Master Perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin has chosen a couture material, drawn from one of the most co veted trees in the world. Sandalwood gives off a very characteristic creamy, ambery and slightly sweet scent. The precious wood’s le athery facet is bolstered by a velvety suede accord. Clean, polished cedar structures these voluptuous, comforting not es. Wisps of precious incense accent this peaceful atmosphere of artistry and craftsmanship. THE INSPIRATION When the Saint Laurent studios moved into the palatial 17th-century private mansion previously known as the Hôtel de Sénecterre, the event ma rked the return of the house to its historical roots on the Left Bank of Paris. Designed by architect Thomas Gobert -- the building planner of King of France, Louis XIV – the building had previously been a Ministry. In this place of creativity, the c ollections are imagined, designed, and come to life. The majestic rooms and gardens of the hôtel particulier have also been used for fashion shows and to shoot advertising campaigns.
